Windsor Contemporary Art Fair 2/2

I slept 21 hours in two days. The fair was fun, but it was tiring. I was probably not fully awake when I wrote the previous blog entry. I forgot to add photos of my stand. Here they are!

 This is the stand of the Prince's Trust. I am a fan of Prince Charles. He is not credited enough for all things he has done in my opinion! I donated one of Water Boys. A lovely Prince's Trust lady bought it, and came to chat with me at my stand! How wonderful! 

There are very friendly artists around me. Tessa Pearson was opposite to me. The colours were so beautiful!  I love her prints! She had lots of experience in art business. I called her the queen of art fairs!

We didn't take enough photos. There were more lovely talented artists around us, but there were rains now and then. It wasn't bright enough to take good photos. 

Emerald gallery had lovely artists and they are so friendly! Tina Ashton was at the corner, and she sold lots of prints.

Then we saw Lea Goldberg again! We met her at Landmark art fair at Teddington. She is having a chocolate cake moment.

As my stand was next to the exhibitors' door. (It was cold!)  I made a friend with Fabian. I adopted him as my nephew. He and all other staff were very polite, friendly and professional.

Windsor Contemporary Art Fair 1/2

Hello! I hope you had a good weekend. We had good one at Windsor contemporary art fair. As it was my second art fair, we were more prepared. Everything went smoothly.

When we came back from a hotel for PV Friday evening, there was a little red dot on a whippet on my stand. ??? Lovely Tessa Pearson, print maker and painter, reserved it for herself. How nice! Her beautiful stand was opposite to mine. I will write about her and other artists in the next entry. At PV loads of small sculptures were sold like pancakes! All wrens flew away quickly, little white rabbits hopped away, and whippets ran off to new loving homes! Monkeys found new loving homes, too. The rest including the anteater, were gone on Saturday.

As I knew they are popular, I took lots of them with me in special boxes I made, so that they could travel comfortably!

On Sunday larger works found their new people. Blue and brown rabbit mask, one of my most artistic ones, and Duchess of Macaron went to a super young family. And the sweet Angel went to another super home!  I have also a couple of leads to commissions. It was overall successful. Mike and I had a great time.

And of course, what makes the experience so special was people. A few people from Teddington came, and it was so lovely to see them again. I have also met a lovely Etsy customer. A lovely gentleman from Twitter came to say hello. And he adopted a bronze-gold whippet. How wonderful! Thank you so much for coming to the fair. It is such joy to meet people! It made our day!

Another joy of art fairs is meeting artists. We were lucky to be surrounded by wonderful artists. They are friendly, supportive and talented! Mike and I had good chats with lots of artists, and had a great time. We hope to see them again sometime!

The art fair was well-organised and well-run. Staff were so friendly, polite and professional. I had a great joy to chat with them.

One pity thing was that we couldn't see Windsor castle. I was told we should be able to see it from anywhere in Windsor, but not the racecourse we were in. I had a glimpse of the top of the castle whilst driving. That was it! We think we will make a day trip one day. A local lady told me the Queen's doll house is a must to see. Looking forward to it!


 

Works from the last firing!

Our little car is loaded. We are ready. Mike said it should be about 90 minutes drive. Thanks to the excellent  house sitter and  the dog walker, we have no worries about our animal family left at home. We treat it like a mini break. We are going to enjoy seeing a new place, the castle (only from outside) and meeting new people! I wish I could meet the Prince Charles, as I am a fan, but that's a tall order! :D

Really Useful boxes are really useful! :D This time, we are more organised than before. Last time, we took way too many works, but this time, I hope they are just right amount.

More new works for Windsor Art Fair

I did another last firing yesterday! The 3rd one! :D The glaze fluxed much better, but the one I was thinking to take to Windsor Art Fair had a big pinhole. So I decided to re-glaze all three for re-firing.

We are almost ready! House sitter has come today and a dog walker is booked. We cleaned our house.

I will share latest works here. She is my favourite. She is so mysterious and beautiful! La Nuit, the night. She has a snake on her hair.

Standing whippets came out lovely! I mounted one on Travertine.

Preparation for the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair - part 2

Hello! Mike was right! I had to do another firing today! :D All went well in the previous firing except for one glaze which is on three pieces. It didn't flux well. I fired them at higher temperature this time Re-glazing was pain. It took me about 2.5 hrs last night. Mike helped me with a heat gun, and I added bit by bit. When I loaded the kiln, it was a quarter to eleven at night. I just hope that the glaze behaves better this time.

The preparation for the fair is going well. As this is the second one for us, it seems easier. Organizers are very good and professional, and we were sent lots of reminders.

I have finally managed to take photos of new masks today. They will be in the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair. As lots of readers are overseas, if you wonder this Windsor is the Windsor where the Queen's castle is, yes it is! I have driven past it before, but I have never been there. So I am looking forward to visiting it.

Empress of champagne truffles.  She was in the previous firing, and came out beautiful at the first firing, which is rare. :D

Preparation for the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair - part 1

It was another busy working weekend. I don't know how we keep on going for weeks on end, but we do! A good thing is that I think I did the last firing for Windsor Contemporary Art Fair; Mike said I would need to do another on Tuesday! I hope not. The reason why it has been so hectic was mainly because I am trying to finish firings for two Christmas shows as well as the art fair. I have to post and/or deliver them by late mid-November. I know I will be exhausted after the fair, so I'm trying to do as much as possible now.

Today I am sharing the images of mainly smaller works. After I created an angel bust for a wonderful couple in NZ, I was inspired by the commission, and made the cherubs. I might make more if they are popular.

I saw a wren quite often last month from  a large window in my studio. He was a little chirpy thing!

Of course, there will be whippets. Bronze-gold, Bronze and Crackled glaze. I packed all today.

As it was a grey rainy day today, the photo doesn't show true beauty of their glaze, but here is a better shot. The front ones are bronze-gold, and back ones are bronze glaze. 

We have also did a mini- mock up. Mike is holding the back board. You might wonder what the little things on the right are.  

They are a family of owls!
