Ceramic Art London 2018

Before and after Ceramic Art London, 23-25 March. I had been hectic. At one point, I thought I might become mad! But I had kept my sanity, just. The result was the best ever. Although it is important to consider all other effects like media, promotion etc. from the prestigious shows like CAL, it is the upmost important to me and, I'm sure, most of others, to have good sales. Some visitors don't realise that how much time and effort as well as costs were put into to do a big show. In my case, literally months' effort.

So we are very pleased that all went very well. Thank you so much.

Red shoes are always popular. She went to a  lovely couple.

Holly - sold

Holly went to a nice gentleman. I was told she is a secret gift for his wife.

Mad Tea Party - sold

Mad Tea Party went to a ceramic school run by a lovely lady. Afterward I head and saw the photos of the works made by children who were inspired by the mask. How nice!

She went to a lovely couple.

Rabbit - sold

He has gone to a nice lady who visited with her lovely friends.

Owl - sold

He went to a nice couple. I had known one of them for a few years on Twitter. How lovely!  

Frenchie - sold

Pug - Sold

Frenchie and Pug went together to a lovely lady who lives with Frenchie and pug! 

Magic mushrooms - sold

Magic mushrooms went to a nice lady.

Lotus - sold

Lotus went to a lovely lady. She saw lotus in flower in Japan. How wonderful! 

Lots of small animals have also gone. White rabbits sold out. Anteaters also sold out. It was a great show!

Art in Clay, Hatfield

It was the hottest summer on the record, they say. My memory of the summer was working hard. Once the show was over, so was summer. I feel slight regret and sadness, but luckily autumn has started nicely with warmth, bright sunshine and cool nights.

Art in Clay was like a long party without stiff drinks or much sleep, neither. Lots of old customers I have known came. How wonderful! Mike and I both agreed it was the most enjoyable show that we have done.

We have also met new awesome customers! What a joy! Thank you so much!

Imara the baby giraffe and her friends. Rabbits are available.

My first sloths, 2 toed and 3 toed, Panda, and white cat went to loving homes. 

Polar bear, fox, quizzical dog, sleep owl and the sloth now live in their new homes. 

Owls are popular. The little chick had to stay in the tent overnight alone!

I'm aware that I haven't written about CAL, and all other things yet. It has been hectic and too hot to use my office during summer. I will catch up, soon. 

Another show is coming up!

Hello everyone. It has been hectic this week. Tuesday afternoon, I was told/realised that the Sidney Cooper Gallery wanted me to make a new show in the side room rather than simply moving my works from the previous MA show! Since then, I am working flat out from early morning to night. I have dropped everything else. Now I am waiting for the three kilns to cool down, so that I could open them. (It's a lunch time now)

10:45 this morning

In the studio, the last kiln didn't become cool enough, and at any moment the security would come and lock the building up. So we opened the door very slightly at quite a high temperature to quicken the process. We have never done this before. But extreme measures are required for extreme situations.

I unloaded three kilns and loaded four kilns today. We have just finished the last one now after eleven at night. Last three days have been more or less like today.

I loaded this kiln yesterday for glaze firing.

They came out fine!  But a couple of them went back to re-firing.


In our kiln room, aka the garage, we have done bisque firing. We opened this kiln at six o'clock in the evening after we came back from the studio.

We are ready for our MA show, Prism

Hello everyone! I missed you! This is the longest time I hadn't posted. What happened? You might ask. Is it because Willow gave me a lovely award, that I felt too much pressure to write?  Hahaha! Nope. I have been literally working day and night until 9pm in the gallery. So when I came home, I was almost passing out. I slightly twisted a wrist and an arm, hurt a shoulder, nonetheless I am satisfied and happy. All preparation finally finished this afternoon, about three o'clock. I am sending out e-invitation to art lovers.  I know it's a bit late, but I really didn't have time to do it sooner. I only found out that how much space I would be given to show on Monday! It was twice as big as I had expected. How nice!

I will give you some snippets of my sections today. Photo quality is poor. It is white everywhere except for the grey floor. Most photographs Taken somehow became blue grey.

Harriet and I were able to choose the space we liked. I had plan A and B for my choice, and ended having both. How lucky! Harriet had her best choice, of course. The experience as interior designer helped me to decide the layout. I placed the plinths in position to check what it looked like.

The high plinth will have two figures: Angel and Paper crown. Angel is going to very lovely ceramic artist, Karen Banks. She kindly gave me opportunity to display her for the show. Thank you, Karen.

I have humble photo of Paper crown not on a high plinth, but on a bath mat. He looks like this in reality.

Another section has also a large plinth. This pictures shows all five chickens and the one with Very old and even older on the right side. The little chicken on the right was sold during the hang. I hope it is an auspicious sign!

Sorry about the quality of photos. I will try again during the show, but those inside the vitrine are difficult to shoot.

I think the show this year is strong. I feel so happy to be a part of it. There are very nice paintings of all sizes, photographs, films and my ceramic sculptures.
