Lots of works have gone to loving homes!

My studio life has become hectic. The day for the start of construction for my studio is decided; it's the 29th February. So I have a month before disruption will start. No rest for me until then!

Lots of sales have happened since the last post. Thank you so much! Here are some of them.

A girl with red shoes has gone to a lovely lady in the US. This work is based on a Japanese children's song, 'Akai kutsu' (Red shoes) written about 100 years ago. It is a poignant song. At that time, ordinary people wore traditional Japanese footwear, not shoes, let alone red shoes. It is about the girl, who was taken away to abroad by a foreigner.

The Medieval Lady mask has gone to a lovely lady in the South East. I'm hoping to make more Medieval themed works in summer.

As for animals, whippets are running off! :D The largest, the third from left, and far right are in my shop. All others have gone to loving homes! They make fantastic gifts for sighthound lovers!
Three whippets are still available.
At this time of the year, rabbits are also popular. First, this little chap has gone to a lovely stone carver, Jennifer Tetlow. She makes beautiful stone animals. Link at the bottom.

He is living with a stone carver now.

And this one has gone to a textile lady.
She went to a lovely textile designer,  Scotland,
And this one has gone to a sweet lady in Japan.

You haven't missed out yet! I have made more recently. Please check my shop!

Lots of rabbits

The first tapir porcelain spoon (top) has gone to a wonderful couple in Scotland. They are not only beautiful and sweet, but also usable; they has food safe glaze. Other two are in my shop.

The last and not the least is Wind swept owl who flew to Scotland on a stormy day! I will make more owls soon!

New works in progress

Cold has returned because I walked to town on Saturday to see an exhibition. The road was congested. It is not serious, but bad enough to have aches all over, hence I can't sleep well. I stay inside, and drive to post office. I hope I will be 100% soon!

Here are images of the January orders I had made before the cold returned. The Water Girl is for a lady in New York.

A herd of tapirs. I made a few extra tiny babies for tapir lovers.

Ice baby and his animal helper on the left for a lovely lady. I have also made a tall one for a show.

What's this? He is an aardvark. His name is Otto! He lives in London Zoo. I made him for a lovely lady who adores aardvarks.

After hollowing him out, I made his face.

The last burst of  Christmas posting was last Friday.

I have added a couple of porcelain spoons in my shop. The largest one and a small one.

Six porcelain spoons

Since the last post, I had had pesky flu. It was not very bad, but all parts of the body including head ached. I groaned a bit when I used staircase because my leg muscles ached. We were planning to make a business trip last weekend; that had to be cancelled. The end was a bit of fever, and it was my birthday, the day after the terrorist attack in Paris.

The first thing I have made when I almost recovered were six porcelain spoons. I made three spoons about ten days prior to the flu. They were for a glaze test. But I liked them a lot, and audience on Twitter, FB and IG like them, too. I thought I would make more as rehabilitation.

As I made them, I felt very reassuring and warm. Very soothing. I had thought about the feeling. And I thought that spoons are the symbols of love, nurture and healing. I realised that they were my response to the terrible tragedy in Paris. When Charlie Hedbo was attacked earlier this year, I felt anger. But this time, I felt numb by the meaningless violence and the grave consequence.

I wish I could be Flash Gordon to save the world. But I know I can't. So I do what I can do. These two are the glaze test pieces. The longer one is called Mike and the shorter one is Jane.

They are perfect for tea leaves.

I had never thought about spoons symbolically before. Suddenly they have got my full attention. Life is strange.
