Hello everyone. It was a glorious day here in Canterbury. I hope you had a lovely day, too. When we opened the blinds in the bedroom this morning, there was a balloon in the sky. We used to see them quite often some years ago, but with financial crisis, they were a rare sight until today. This must be a true sign of recovery!

From morning, Topaz was keen to go out. But I had to give them a short walk to go to the studio. I felt guilty.

Walk? Walk? Walk? |
I have spent afternoons in the studio this week. We open the door to let fresh air in. So nice! I am working on several things. (And I forgot to take photos of them, again) So there is no waiting time. Here are some of bisque-fired works I picked hot from a kiln.

I am building a large chicken, also throwing and turning bowls and making more masks. I make lots of masks. I experiment with new things on masks. If they go well, I might make a sculpture based on them.
When it is warm, watering vegetables is a big job. We water them three times a day. Even so, tomatoes get wilted in the greenhouse. We are harvesting courgettes and cucumbers. Mike's cucumbers taste sweet! Everything is one month behind this year, but a hot spell is forecast, I hope they will catch up quickly.

Wow you are harvesting cucumbers, were they in the greenhouse? Ours are just now flowering outside.
ReplyDeleteI am quite smitten with your "funky" rabbit !
Hello Willow. Yes, they are in the greenhouse. Anything tender don't do well outside here. Mike's cucumbers were sweeter than bought peaches! They were sour peaches : D Thank you! I fancy both rabbits myself! : )
Deletelooks beautiful there, wonder how you'll glaze the chameleon? and sour peaches, strange
ReplyDeleteYes, summer has finally arrived! La-lala! : ) I will dip her into glaze. The neatest way to glaze chameleons! Fruits like peaches were harvested green in Spain. So if they were too unripe at picking, they will never get ripen, and remain sour. : (
DeleteWell I realise I'm echoing Willow's point here but yes - Funky Rabbit is a star and WHAT! Harvesting cucumbers already?! Think I need to get my watering can out! Jane x
ReplyDeleteMike started his veg early in the greenhouse. : ) Thank you, Jane. I am looking forward to finishing the masks.
DeleteLove your chameleon ! And Funky Rabbit ! And big ears too :)
ReplyDeleteCucumbers are sweet because they come from your garden ;)
Thank you, Ilona. True. They are also picked ripe. Probably that's why. : )
